I think 20" looks great in a light wheel color.
If the 20" is darker and your wheel arches are black, it's less appealing.
22" (light) with black wheel arches still look good.
22" (light) with colored arches -- I don't like the "covered wagon" look.
All just my personal taste of course.
I recently got 20" Forgestar F14 in bronze on my Space Grey E70. It wasn't quite right with the black arches as I said above. As we speak, I'm getting the black trim painted, which should complete the look. Will post pics once I get it back.
