Service engine soon light on.

So, I just got an x5 35i last week, and I haven't even done 100 miles (I've done 92 so far) with it. I went grocery shopping today, and when I got in the car to go home, the engine would not turn on. The car would chime at me and would display the engine icon in the center display, but wouldn't let the engine turn on.
I consulted the manual and this is what it says:

>The warning lamp lights up:

Emissions are deteriorating. Have the vehicle checked as soon as
possible.

>The warning lamp flashes under certain circumstances:

This indicates that there is excessive misfiring in the engine.

Reduce the vehicle speed and have the system checked immediately;
otherwise, serious engine misfiring within a brief period can seriously
damage emission control components, in particular the catalytic
convertor.

I haven't even had the car a week and it already has a problem. Damn. Plus i'm afraid to drive it, fearing that the engine will shut down on the middle of the freeway.

Have any of you guys had this problem? If so, what was the fix?
