In the ML350, there was an option to lower the level of the music OR NOT when the nav instruction voice spoke. I don't see such an option in the X5.
Anyone know how to make that happen?
But I really would like the option!

Unfortunately both normal for BMW. I turned off my NAV voice just for the reasons you brought up.
