I had a similar discussion with my dealer. They apparently can't order the European (hidden) type hitch here (more like they don't want to and didn't even try since it is MUCH easier for them to sell you what they have or know...)
In any case, bak is right, the bottom cover of the rear bumber (silver/gray) plastic part apparently needs to be removed to install that ugly trailer hookup. So I am reconsidering about getting a tow hookup for my X6 when I finally get it...
Price was quoted to me to be about $875 as a dealer installed option.
