From what I noticed is they increased the glass amount in the plastic on the outer parts for a more ridged robust part. The new parts appear more silvery because of that. The center has been retooled and now has an co-molded rubber wings on the outer sides that negates the need for the goo lining to keep the water out.
Otherwise if you plan on keeping the vehicle for more than a few years then replacing with the new OEM parts are probably good but I recon most people will probably keep this vehicle for a couple years and trade it on something newer so paying the premium isn't worth it.
But just a personal thing for me, not going to put Chinese parts on the vehicle as long as I can help it if it's only a few bucks more. Especially if their was an improvement made however small.
