The X5 diesel's are well proven, I have had my first 30d in the E53 X5, then in the E70 models, 30d, 35sd, 35d, skipped the 40d went to the M50d and have not had a sigle engine problem considering I do between 60,000Klm to 70,000klm in them before I trade.
The only thing I can say is I will not buy the new model X5 coming until its been in production for 12 months, that way all the bugs have been ironed out.
