Good point. 5 minutes of google showed me this option suitable for the BMW F30 328i and it's ASS (should not take more effort to start the S55 IMO):

MT7-34 AGM Interstate Battery
$254 retail price
46.7 pounds

So in less than 5 minutes of searching I can find an AGM Battery specifically suited for the F30 chassis and ASS system of a 3.0 liter engine, weighing only ~16 pounds more than the LI-ION battery, and costing over $800 less.

My point is: In 4-6 years or so, when you MIGHT need to start thinking about a new battery, expect there to be options that cost less than $300 and have a very similar weight rating.

My guess is that unless you live in the arctic circle, there will be battery options with fewer CCA and reserve power that are AGM and weigh in around 30-35 pounds. Maybe you'll need to put a foam block near them to lock them in place - no big deal.
