You could be charged with "Criminal Trespass" if you aren't supposed to be there and peel it off. If you see it on the street, and decide to tamper with it, one could go as far as being charged with "Criminal Mischief" if the individual purposely, knowingly or recklessly tampers with tangible property of another so as to endanger property.
You be the Judge and define "endager" for me
Personally I do not think it would hold up, and if any damage is caused it would probably turn into a civil matter.
