I have a 2004 X5 3.0 with 65k miles. Today I drove about 200 miles over all. 5 miles from home I passed with enough accelleration for the car to downshift. After the pass, 80mph, the car shifted back to 5th and seemed fine. At the next intersection the car started off very slowly and seemed to be in 5th. I even moved the level to manual shift and the indicator on the dash shows the numbers lower as I downshift but the trans does not shift and after a few seconds the indicator goes back to 5. Trans fluid is full.
