Wait a minute, something is fishy. BMW bulletin says this affects 2011,2012, and 2013.

Correct they extended the warranty! But the recall was only for the 2010 and some 2011, the warranty was extended on all other models.

Doesn't mount to a hill of beans of their all prone to failure.

If yours does brake it may take out everything like some owners here needing all new drive train, or like mine which was just superficial, but whatever the cause seems like all x5 may have an issue. They should have bit the bullet and replaced them all.
