Yes, for the F30, you can do the adaptive headlights without the auto leveling without error. However, I would not just assume the wiring is exactly the same for the F20. I would not risk damaging something, especially the FEM, by just assuming. Try and get some wiring diagrams first. I maybe able to get some for you, but to continue the conversation, please post in this thread:
