On the last pic you can see the pin is inserted, it would take a little more effort to get it in behind the gray plastic trim, but worth the effort for the cosmetic improvement imo.

I'm considering how bad it would look to have a hole for the electric plug neatly cut out rather than going the cut and reweld of the bracket to a different location to have the neatest finish
