Same issue. Dealer could not resolve. Happens every few weeks.
To reboot, hold in both eject buttons and the volume knob together for a few seconds. Screen will come back.
Dealer could not solve my climate control stepper motor chatter or iDrive blank screen. I guess I just have to live with it in my $70k bimmer. My last one however.
