you can do it with the wheels right on the car. I'm sure we all did it that way. you just clean the wheels and let them dry completely (use a leaf blower or air compressor to speed up the drying and get it out of any small spaces, cover the brake disc and caliper with a kitchen size garbage bag and spray. then roll the car forward til the bottom of the wheel is at the top and spray all the spots missed from the past position. usually 3 cans is more than enough to do them.

You can peel the plasti dip center cap off after you spray them or you can pop the center cap out before hand. I sprayed over mine and left it. like the way that looks better since blue and white look wierd in the middle of a black rim.
