I am not surprised. I would expect the MPG to mirror that of the X5 V8 very closely which is why I opted for the 6 cyl. I get about 17-19 in mixed driving and 22-24MPG strictly hwy with 4k miles on the clock.
Are you filling with gas and dividing the miles driven by gallons used? This is the best way to determine MPG. The onboard computers can be misleading.
However, I think the power and sound of the V8 must be awesome as it is on my neighbor's X5 V8.
