Can fuel pump cause high idle?

My e90 330i has high idle almost all the time. Steady tho.

It started more than a year ago but only sometimes, but now after warm up idle behaves ok just for a while, but then it goes up around 8500 rpm. I've done a smoke test to check for air leaks inside the intake but found nothing.

Today I conected it to INPA and found this error code: CEC7 Electronic Fuel Pump Control Module.

I did a quick search and seems to be de cause of the high idle.

Does it make any sense?

Is it the fuel pump or something electronically related?

Any opinion is appreciated.
