The New Ford GT Proudly Carrying on the Tradition the Original Did...

Background in case those don't know. Around 50 years or so ago, Ford was this close to acquiring Ferrari. Enzo Ferrari had one request, that Ford take over the consumer facing side of the business and he retain the racing side (Enzo Ferrari notoriously hated making cars for people but realized he had to do so to fund his passion, Le Mans racing). Ford said no, so in the 11th hour Enzo backed out of the deal.

By this point Ford was livid as it spent all this money in due diligence only to have it go to shit at the last minute. So Ford figured it'd give it's R&D team a carte blanche to design a race car that would destroy Ferrari. That car was called the GT40 and went on to wreck Ferrari in Le Mans.

It's why in the teaser video Ford released a year or so ago teasing the new Ford GT, at the end you see the GT storming down an Italian backroad and it startles a horse, and it strikes a pose resembling the prancing horse.

It's funny, I feel like if Enzo Ferrari wasn't an ass, Lamborghini would still be building just tractors and the Ford GT40 (and the GT successors) would've never existed.

And Toyota has the worst luck in the world.
