Engine Malfunction

Got the Engine malfunction message the other day while driving on the highway. Message that engine operating at reduced output. Possible to continue. Drive with caution. Have the system checked by the nearest BMW center.

And then following that (dealer could not get me in right away), long crank times when car was cold and sluggish acceleration.

Was the High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) on one bank of cylinders. Not sure if it is the same one as the N54/N55 6-cyl, but they actually stocked the part and had the car ready in less than 24 hours (along with a ton of scheduled maintenance).

Long story short, these pumps go out on the 50i (V8) model too
