I was in an accident this past Friday. The exterior damage wasn't so bad: front passenger quarter panel and light assembly and bumper. However all the air bags went off because I hit the perpetrator at about 45mph and one of them broke the windshield. I also have 32oz of Diet Coke intrusion in the center console

The Hyundai Accent that I hit (that turned left in front of me) looks like it was in a completely different accident. Almost the whole front end looks flattened.
Anyway, have any of you successfully done a diminished value claim after an accident? I'm not sure how to go about it.
Interestingly I had just gone to the dealer on Thursday to look at new cars. Its too bad that I didn't have them do an appraisal while I was there.
