I believe the statement that the DCT is torque-limited, again, on what I've seen on the 1-series forum. It's probably why the diesels still use the 6-speed auto.

I couldn't find that thread where that happened, but don't care either.

That said, the e70/N55 platform is limited in terms of what is available, and what can be done custom.

intake, catless downpipes and tunes are available.
intercooler and exhaust will probably require some fabrication.

There is a rebuilt N55 turbo available with some larger wheels and porting, but it's way too costly for the gains. Then you'll need a custom tune with that too...

Can you make gains, absolutely. But there is a fiscal wall you hit when you want to go further... It's better to start with a solid platform like the V8 than the 6cyl. Or something with a better aftermarket like the 1/3/5 series cars.
