I was driving around 80 mph on my X5M yesterday and downshift to 4th gear and accelerate and all of sudden i heard loud release air from the engine bay and then my check engine light came on. Car is shaking so i pull over and stop the car and ignition off. Then start up the car again the car still shake and no power at all. Screen shows engine malfunction but i was 30 mile away from home. I have no choice and keep driving the car slowly but i keep hearing boom sound from the engine bay. Does anyone know what might be the issue that cause this to happen? Bad injector? Vacuum leak?I know it's misfire and will this damage the engine by driving the car home? Thank you!
