Do not trust your life, during winter seasons, with a jack-of-all-trades (all-season) tires. Considering you need to slow/stop a 5k lbs vehicle, you can't go wrong with dedicated snows. I suggest 2 sets of wheels...summer/winter.
I run Conti' DWS during warm season and dedicated snow tires (Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme) during winter season. My family's lives are worth it.
