In the bmw engineers defense, they didn't declare what lifetime of the trans is......lol. Is it 10 yr/100k? I'd much rather follow ZFs service intervals or just change the fluid, filter, and whatever other maintenance is recommended at 25k miles
Dirty fluid only gets dirtier. Change the fluid more often than not.
