Bringing this old thread up to see if anyone solved the paddle shift retrofit. Seems that some coding in addition. To wiring is needed. It appears that the paddle signals are a pass through directly to the transmission. (Not re transmitted as CAN signals) I have installed them on my 4/11 build date 2012 x35i. I have the sport package but it did not work as other have been so lucky to have. I'm the steering wheel is also a heated M and I am close to a heated steering wheel retrofit. I'll post the DIY once complete.
