On the same routes/driving my other cars get:
10 VW Jetta TDI 13k miles - 35.8 mpg
08 BMW M3 13k miles - 17.8 mpg
I drive with a very soft foot.
On longer highway trips between Austin and Houston, I can get 44 in the VW but only in the high 24s on the X5. This is at the speed limit with cruise control, 70-75 mph.
My best mpg is driving on local fwys at 60-65 mph, it seems to go down dramatically after 65 mph.
