There are no reported issues with Meyle HD that I have found anywhere. It looks like I am the only one with Meyle HD tension struts that commented in the thread you're referring to and they are doing great. Still too early to tell how long they last at only 17k miles.
Miles are more relevant than age when it comes to the tension struts and the $300 per side OEMs start to fail at 40-60k miles. Im not paying 3x the price for something doesnt last any longer, in fact im hoping the Meyle HDs outlast OEM.
