FWIW, I had the same issue with my 2011 x6 5.0 two months ago - I went to the dealer who told me they had to reprogram the way the car is set up to charge the battery. Apparently there is a separate profile that can be set up if you make frequent short trips to have the car battery charged right away as opposed to over time. It took them a day to run the profile and I haven't had any issues with the battery since then.
