Ironically I have "cmyx6go" car.

He did a great job taking care of her. I call her (Betti)

But I did something one day. I know don't kill me. It's an honest mistake of after 5000+ successful gas fill ups. I didn't put the cap on. So I drove briefly seen and noticed it was uncovered via side mirrors, then I covered it back up.

Now, after that incident I noticed I had some rough idling. (Fell under 500 RPM with immense rattling) I was like this ain't the bass beating like that.

I attached photos.

What I'm asking is what a causes for a vent pipe to fail? Was it caused by me having the gas cap off and driving or something else?

I was interested in some insight from you guys and reference materials. I love this car and want to learn more about it and BMW itself.

I know this is perfect place to come to.

All responses are welcomed.

Thanks!
What you had replaced was the crankcase "vent pipes" they are very common to fail due to getting brittle from all the heat with top mount turbos. Not related to gas cap. But a missing gas cap can pop the check engine light. Just install another a clear the faults.
Good looking y'all. I learn everyday. I appreciate that. Thank you.
Very welcome Sir!
