N55 335 if you have the cash . Single turbo , most people would agree that it is less problematic than the N54
N54 335 if you want to get it cheap and it has the twin turbo , maintenance cost may be a problem but you gotta pay to play, however with the twin turbo modding is really easy
N52 328 Decent power, nothing crazy , good daily drive , fairly reliable however there isnt much you can do to provide more power, AA tune , 3 stage intake and headers may get you to 250-260 at the crank maybe 215 at the wheels . You can probably get a newer one since they are pretty affordable .
Personally if I was you , I wouldnt get a bmw though...
I ll probably get a subaru BRZ or the genesis , or the golf GTI...
