Decent theory but I don't think it's accurate based on my experience. I exclusively use Shell V-Power which, in Canada, contains no ethanol. Other premium gasoline from other companies usually have the "contains up to 10% ethanol" moniker on the pump, but Shell is for sure ethanol free.

I guess that leaves a couple other potential causes - the detergents the companies are putting in the fuel that act as supposed cleaning agents are causing the injectors to get gummed up; or, the injectors themselves are a bad design. I'm going with the latter.
