I think what 997GT3 is trying to communicate (though not very well) is the difference between a N/A engine in the GTS and a F/I engine in the X6M Twin Turbo... The N/A will always seem more responsive and more eager to rev, it will also always rev higher...
The X6M has way more torque down low in the RPM range and like any F/I is not all about Rev's, in fact it does not need to rev that high anyway ...

I am surpised that with all the cars you have had, that you could not verbalize the difference better than you did
