I am also considering both spacers and lowering with springs on my X5. I live close to London so the bloody speed humps could be a slight issue in terms of ride quality but I love the aesthetics of a "sensibly" lowered 4x4. I am currently running BMW 21" alloys but have no idea what size spacer/s I should go for? Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Then the next question will be which make of springs - H&R or Eibach?
