I have 2007 530xi and 2011 X5. I have had the 530xi for four years and had one $2,300 seal repair . The local BMW dealer repaired it. No other issues since (102k mileage.)
My X5 no issues ,bought it used with 51k mileage.
Before these two I had a 2001 530 series. For all issues I went to my local garage, he was usually 1/3 of the cost for repairs of the local BMW dealer.
If it's beyond warranty go to your local garage. Way cheaper than BMW dealer
