So I took the X5 to the dealer today and they said that number 5 glow plug and the glow plug control module need to be replaced. Received fault codes of 4A7E, 4A79,4A74,49A5, AND 4A2E. Are the LIN Bus codes related to the controller failure or the plug fail? I'm not sure what the LIN bus is. The dealer wants $458 to replace the controller and $897 to replace the glow plugs
My thought is to replace the glow plugs and see if the rough idle at start up goes away. Would the controller be bad if only one plug failed? Does anyone have a DIY for replacing the glow plugs?
