I also bought a 2010 X5M with 28k on the odometer. I have since put 3k miles on it since April and not an issue yet....(knock on wood). I did get quotes for extended warranties since mine expires this September. Its not cheap to warranty but worth the piece of mind I guess....Some 3rd party warranty doesn't even offer packages for M models.
