i suspect they're pushing them hard, because of purists, who think that an X5 & X6 shouldn't be in the "M" fold. they've got to make the case that these are true "M" vehicles, by pushing them.
on the M3, M5 & M6, you expect people will appreciate them. they float out some HP numbers and 0-60 (0-100km/h) numbers, and people will automatically consider it a sports car.
it's just marketing.
