What is the shop rate per hour? Assuming $100/hr, that is a bit high IMO. It takes maybe two hours to change rotors and calipers and flush brake fluid in my own garage on my own.

Perhaps you should shop around, just to see if that is market rate?

EDIT:... I want to also point out, garages are there to make money. So depending on where you go some markups are higher than others. Some quote a price, but only charge actuals. Perhaps you're quoted a high price in case there are incidentals? Or you're quoted a price because 1 you own a german car, and 2, you bought a brand name money; so you must have money and can afford the shop fees.

Personally, I'd go find an indy shop. Somewhere there is an old dude that appreciates cars. Show him what you have, and see if he get's excited about it. He may just be passionate about wanting to do the work for a great price. Or he may do the work so easily with his eyes closed, that he'll quote a very reasonable price.
