I scheduled the N63 Customer Satisfaction work to coincide with the flushing of the transmission and differentials. Like everyone else, I had all the items on the recall list replaced including my battery. While it was in the shop, BMW found Leaks. I stopped in with my M3 for some wipers and my SA took me out to the X5 to show me what they found. Believe me even the clueless car person could have seen the leaks
- Both Adaptive Drive rear shocks leaking
- Rear pinion seal leaking
- Upper oil pan gasket leaking
- Valve cover leak (both banks)
- Front pinion seals leaking
- upper coolant lines leaking
Pretty sad for a MY12(04/11 build) with only 40k miles on it. I am glad that I got the 84/100k Platinum with this car at a discount when the 2011 was replaced due to 63 straight days in the shop.
As for the fluid changes. They showed me what the trans and diff fluids and I am glad that I changed them. Just added security.
I am getting tired of the X5 issues. The sad thing is that the X5 meets our needs perfectly: Great driving car(adaptive drive), Horsepower, THIRD ROW!!!. I so badly want to leave BMW but there is not another SUV/SAV in the market which is equal to the X5.
- Porsche, no third row and we use ours a bunch.
- Mercedes, need the massive GL to get third row and the wife does not want to drive a car 8 Inches longer than here already large X5
- Audi... there is not one single thing my wife liked about any audi SUV/SAV.
- Lexus.... I don't even know why I put this on the list.
So it looks like we are stuck... I hope BMW gets its act together on there F generation vehicles.
