It was 6k miles when I decided to do an oil change just for the heck of it ... I was surprized to see the condition of oil ... diesels usually turn oil black quickly, but this one seemed to have lost viscosity pretty bad, there were particles (dust or ??) in the oil, the filter was a mess ... I'm planning on changing every 5k, inbetween bmw's oil change (10k) ..... I also used AMSOIL Engine & Trans Flush right before draining it ... I'm at 26k mileage ... I've seen lab reports showing oil good & what not, I think anything over 5k is just not right for the car
