Is this normal at all?

Sometimes I hear a noise from brakes too and this is different from squeaking noise that I used to have last winter. Brake material does not seem to be up to bmw quality comparing with my older 5 series. Please let me know what is your experience.
There is a "golden rule" when you drive fast or spirited, the best way to conserve your brakes in terms of duration and less heat is to brake hard and short, that way you will loose a lot of speed in a very short period of time.

If you are used to make long and soft braking periods, there is a lot of friction and heat building into pads and the rotors, so the pads will worn out faster, same for the rotors.
