Other websites may have tips on usage to avoid detection as some states may prohibit detector usage. That's why I recommend the diode behind an open center vent louver.
Front laz rc'r is centered behind the approx. 3" wide crosshatch open grill below the kidneys. shifters are left & right of it.

Have yet to be engaged by laser directly. but have experienced advance warning of Ka band way in advance of seeing Smokey citing someone going the opposite way.

A friend w/ the same unit in a carrera 4s was caught by Smokey because his receiver was not pointing straight fwd. 1/4 bubble off level can mean ur trying to detect aircraft over treetops @ approx. 1000yards.
At 100mph vehicle travels 49 yds/sec., u close 500 yds in 10 seconds.
Most Smokeys will not be setting up on the straight flat runs (unless they r there just for visual deterrence), but usually around blind corners @ much closer distances.
So if ur the point car within 300 yds u can be targeted multiple times !
I always let "decoys" run ahead of u around blind corners! so I can detect stray signals when they r targeted.
Thanks for reminding me to catch up on some reading to update my skills!

Ok I have checked many sites and there are lots of opinions where to put the detector and the jammers but most are 3 series install not X6. On most of the 3 series the jammers are mounted behind or on the front of lower grill (lots of opinions about "front or behind but escort install video shows behind grill on mustang). The detector location seems to be another one that draws lots of opinions.

I did find a 3 series install on the M3 board by pencilgeek that I am studying, he lives in the same area as I and drives the same highways and has real world experience after install.

could you post a picture of yours so I can get an idea of where exactly the units are placed?

Thanks.
