Rear Hinged Rear Doors for the X6??

This blurb was printed in the current issue of 'Motor Trend' magazine (June 2007).

"BMW HAS CONFIRMED it'll name its sport / people mover, formerly known as the RFK, the X6. It'll be built next year in Greenville, South Carolina, alongside the Z4 and X5, the latter with which it shares a platform. BMW didn't confirm the body configuration, although it's expected to have two small, rear-hinged, rear-access doors."

I know currently you can see these types of doors on the Mazda RX-8, and several extended-cab pickups, where the front door must be opened to access the rear door. However, on the Rolls-Royce Phantom, I believe you can open the rear suicide doors while the fronts are closed (though I may be incorrect here).

Can anyone comment on the suicide doors for the rears on the X6? I'm somewhat new to BMW - have there been any previous BMW production cars with this type of rear door?

If they will be similar to the RX-8 type, that implies a short door and smaller rear seat, which doesn't make sense if they are going to stretch the vehicle (compared to the X5). However, if the X6 is actually shorter than the X5, with even tighter rear seat accommodations, then I suppose smallish rear doors would be in order. COMMENTS???
