Sorry but if being "upside down" on a BMW at $1,000 you may want to consider another vehicle...$1,000 does not seem bad at all, especially if that $1,000 lasts you at least a another year in maintenance (hopefully more). Look into recalls for the urea tank,
I think the active tank is under warranty until 120k miles.
