The vent on the X5/X6 is directly under the seat (not at the back) and has a lip that points the air upwards.

The pictures are with my seat moved all the way forward. The lip could be a little bigger (another 1/4 inch?) but that is about it - there is no clearance.

This does beg the question that if you have cool air coming out of the LOWER vents as AndreyATC showed, you SHOULD have cooler seats.
