As the saying goes there is no such thing as a cheap bmw.
I’ve owned multiple x5s, once they get beyond about 6 years old they are generally 5-9k a year to keep repaired. Really not joking these are not cars for the faint of heart. In my case the extended warranty has paid more than 2x in repairs compared to what it cost.
I love them and enjoy driving them. But if you don’t and you worry about spending thousands a year to keep them going it’s not for you. Heck a set of tires for my x5m is about 1300 and they last about 1year or 12k miles. Brake pads at the dealer are 1400. You get the idea, the 50i is less expensive but not cheap,
Why do you think they go for so cheap when the warranty is up? Why can you buy a 5 year old car that cost 80k new, for 25? Because it’s a high maintenance car. If you want cheap, a don’t buy an suv, b don’t buy an old luxury car without a warranty if you want to keep it in good shape.
