Did the Dodge dealer know the extent of issues w/ your 50i? They must have seen/smelt the oil? Either way they just send it to auction anyway, I don't imagine they care.
I was fortunate to have BMW cover my valve guide seals just outta warranty, otherwise I would have been trading it in too just like you did, no way was I gonna pay to replace those!

I'm beyond relieved to get rid of that n63!!! funny part is, I have 3 cases of castrol 5w30 sitting in my garage from that oil guzzling slob lol
The dodge dealer didn't even look at the x5...they just ran the vin and based their offer on the mileage alone...book value was somewhere around 11k with 10k worth of damage so I jumped all over 8k
At least you got them to cover yours for free...10k in repairs is insane!
