On a car with a tradition automatic transmission, LC is a novelty. Granted, it does hold the revs just shy of stall on the M, but it does little else. The same auto up shifts can be attained in Sport mode.

I do like that the Jeep's LC temporarily changes multiple settings with the simple push of a button - the equivalent of putting the X5M in M "power" mode, shifting the trans to sport, activating EDC, and putting the stability program in full off. Then all the settings revert back to their previous mode as soon as the launch run is finished or aborted. Plus, it lets you know you've initiated LC and shows you how to use it on the dash display.

Anytime I've used LC in the X5M, it was a gamble on if it would activate. You have to hope you made all the right changes with the transmission position and DSC, but then you don't know if it activated until you attempt a launch.

Ultimately, if they are going to equip LC on a car, they should make it useful and simple to use.
