22" Wheels on BMW x6 35D

Hi All, New to the forum and had a question about the X6 and wheel fitting.

I had previously the 20" Alloys with 315/35/20 rear and 275/40/20 Fronts. I bought a set of Onyx alloys which were 22" with the same offset all round. A spacer kit was fitted to the rear alloys to bring them out slightly so that they sit flush with the wheel arches. The Tyre sizes are now 285/35/22 all round.

315/35/20 = 28.68" Diameter
275/40/20 = 28.66" Diameter

285/35/22 = 29.85" Diameter all round.

From the above it suggested that the rolling Diameter of the original wheels are slightly different whereas the rolling diameter of the new 22" wheels should be exactly the same.

Does anyone know of a reason that the new wheels would make the handling on the car feel so much different to the old ones? The Tyres are a good make and are fitted to all sorts of performance 4x4 Range Rover Sport etc: so I dont think this would be the problem. The Car now feels very different and I am considering going back to the old 20" wheels instead.

Has anyone else had a similar issue with fitting of 22's to there X5 or X6?

Sorry for rambling on there..
