While those are great lenses, spending a grand or two on a $750 camera for family shots is overkill.
If you are a noob, take a course or read a good photo book. Learn to shoot in aperature priority mode to control depth of field.
Use the flash in daytime to fill shadows (may need an ad on flash).
Get a prime fast lens. This is a lens tha approximates normal field of view, and is fastish:

Will give you 3 extra stops of light and has higher quality glass.
