When the shaft broke on my 2011 my SA told me that anything that was damaged due to the shaft breaking would be covered. I had mine inspected about 2 months before it happened. The mechanic checked the bolts and shaft and said it was OK! BMW needs to get these vehicles in and get the shaft replaced.
